Debt Management and Commutations - Overview

JMD manages, acquires and realises the surplus assets of solvent non life insurance companies both live and in run-off and manages, acquires and realises reinsurance receivables. We have many years of combined practical experience of operating in these fields. We are both a Service Provider and also an accredited Lloyds Run–Off Broker. Our Debt Management services include acquisition, pro-active credit control (including realisation of historic debt) and commutations.

Acquisition
JMD acquires solvent insurance companies in run-off, typically at a discount to their net asset value and then seeks to realise the surplus assets within such companies once their liabilities have been reduced and regulatory approval to realise those surplus assets has been obtained. Thereafter we seek to achieve exit and finality through a variety of means, including (but not limited to) the transfer, sale and/or scheme of arrangement.

Credit Control (including realisation of historic debt)
JMD seeks to manage and realise the collection of both current and historic debts in a timely manner. We are well versed in identifying, tracking and chasing debtors and supporting our Clients claims for payment of monies due to them under various insurance or reinsurance agreements. JMD seeks to ensure that the passage of all realised monies is executed directly between its Clients and their counterparties.

Commutations
JMD assists its Clients in the correct identification, domicile and status of counterparties, contract reconciliation, debt reconciliation and agreement, negotiation of price, release agreement negotiations and by ensuring the correct and timely passage of monies between the contracting parties.
